You want me, baby, I dare you... try and tear me down

Today, I thought that I might write a review.  I have had a few binders in my day, however there is only one that I would highly recommend to anyone who is just starting to bind, or has yet to find the perfect binder.  The Tri-top by Underworks.

It is tried and true.  I’ve had three so far and once the current one wears out then I will get another.  It’s reliable, simple and conceals fairly well.

It looks like a tank-top that has been cut off at the ribs, really, made out of this odd meshy fabric that feels like a stiffer version of bathing-suit material.  The first Tri-top that I purchased was white, but I currently have two in black, which I prefer.  It looks a little less conspicuous under tank-tops and I feel as if the fabric might be a bit different between black and white.
The design hides chests pretty well and is very easy to just slip over your head like a shirt (unless you just got out of the shower.  It’s much harder then) plus, it breaths pretty easily compared to other binders.  It’s nice in the summer when you want to wear as little clothes as possible.  Finally, it doesn’t compress the lungs as much as one might expect.  I have been able to breath quite well with just one (although, towards the ends of their lives, I’ve had to double them up which causes some breathing issues).

Negatives about the Tri-top would be with a fresh binder and it’s crispness, it cuts into your underarms pretty severely.  I have marks around my arms from where the edge of the binder has rubbed the skin raw.  It is also a bit slippery, so constant readjustment is sort of necessary unless you’re okay with a lump in the middle of your chest (a rather uncomfortable lump, at that).
It also rolls up a bit at the bottom, but it’s not very noticeable, just uncomfortable.  One of the worst things, I think, is the short lifespan of the thing.  It lasts about six months before you have to get a new one or double up or deal with it, which is pretty annoying.  Thankfully, the Tri-top is only 30 US dollars, which is less than a lot of other binders.

In terms of number rating, I would give comfort a 7/10, increasing the longer the binder is worn.
I would probably give binding an 8/10, decreasing the longer the binder is worn.
Finally, I would give subtly (the way the binder looks under clothes) a 7.5/10.  The fabric is odd, but at first glance it doesn’t look out of place at all.

All in all, I would highly recommend this binder.  It’s affordable, comfortable, and binds well, with few flaws.
